Anand, this depiction of Garuda(teeth and all) is quite common in Indian and South east asian art. I could be wrong though

this looks more like to a bichwa/bichva to me than a khanjarali.
In that case it needn't even have a north indian origin.
The blade, though old seems to be of a bichhwa than a khanjarali.

Not too sure about that shooter.I have seen some khanjarlis with exactly the same type of blade shape and general type.

Dear shooter, though some internet sources cite the mushroom shaped handle to be a defining characteristic of the khanjarli it is not always so.The blood groove maybe present or absent in both bichwas and khanjarlis as also the armour piercing tip.
The common alignment of the finger guard in bichwas is more commonly along the flat of the blade and not along the edge of the knife as seen in this specimen.
All in all it is not a very typical specimen so it is difficult to rule out any of the two possibilities with any certainty.

im not aware of the internet sources but am quoting G N pant, P S rawson, Z Faktor, Abdul Aziz, Jaiwant Paul amongst a few well known people.
People I know personally dont have much experience with a bichwa as it has a deccan origin.
But I do agree it is not a typical specimen.
Sometimes country lohars copy items they have seen and thy dont adhere to the "rules".
