Hey, go for it if you can afford it. But I know a guy who has a colt 45 replica. It shoots 9mm blanks and sounds real good when you rack the slide.
But the problem in delhi is that in a bad situation the bad guy normally doesn't use a replica. ;-)
Shttk, bang, bang, ow that hurts...so was that a .9mm that you shoved into my torso??heelp? ;-).

Dear Sirs,Are you aware of the legal status of replica pistols in India like Umarex Walther P88 ? Do you need some kind of licence or authority to keep them?

Blank guns are practically good for nothing. At the most they are good for children to fulfill their childish desires of holding and making noise with something that resembles a real weapon. Let no one be under the impression that they can bluff their way to safety by brandishing blank guns. The person on the other end may think it to be real weapon and actually attack in order to save himself. Then your blank gun is not going to help you.

@ ankit can u tell me any such dealer in bangalore if u personally know

@goodboy I agree with ankit"something is better than nothing" , they are good to fill ur desire to have one (it is very lame thing to do coz of laws here to own a real one) but even if u hav a license for real arms u know wat are the usless pistol options u hav from out great home made insdustry. have a look at the prices of indian arms which are legal here and have a look at finest hand guns like Desert eagle (around 80-90K in US (1600-1800 USD), Beretta 92FS arnd 38K and then we have our homemade crap for 80K can u compare those models with stuff like colt and beretta in perforamnce and looks? I do not think so.

I really wanted to own a real one but wen i searched all this that even after goin thru endless trouble if i get a license I will have to end up with our local indian pistols.
So now I do not have much enthusiam to fight for a license and end up with a .22 or .32 from ordinance factory when I know getting a desert or beretta is next to impossible in india. So I am looking for a good blank one.

and let me tell u they are not for children lol i mean if u call a guy above 18 as a children then ya they are for children but i wud call a 18+ person as a mature one and not a child

and ya I agree with u if u pull out a blank in a dangerous situation u might get killed but I just need it as a toy but seems like need to pay 7-8 times the original price to own a blank in india which really sucks :(

Will admit that I also have a kiddish desire to own a blank firing 92f but the thought of the customs hassles puts me off. So I will wait till I have the dough to gamble on the chance of it making it through the customs. But our Ashani isn't too bad, specially if you have tuned by one mischievous elf in Patiala.

Blank Firing Replicas inclusive of “Starter Pistols” are incapable of firing projectiles. Despite having an authentic working action and resemblance to a firearm, they are incapable of firing live ammo and discharging a projectile! Therefore, they are exempt from the restrictions imposed by the Indian Arms Act 1959.

Check out Section 2 (Definitions and Interpretations): §(c) "ARMS" means articles of any description designed or adapted as weapons for offense or defense, and includes firearms, sharp -edged and other deadly weapons, and parts of, and machinery for manufacturing, arms, …. and excludes weapons incapable of being used otherwise than as toys or of being converted into serviceable weapons.

So, on the one hand articles of ANY DESCRIPTION DESIGNED OR ADAPTED AS WEAPONS FOR OFFENSE OR DEFENSE are considered “Arms”; but, on the other hand, “WEAPONS incapable of being used otherwise than as toys or of being converted into serviceable weapons …” are not considered “Arms”. In other words some “WEAPONS” are considered to be “Arms”, while other “WEAPONS” (blank-firing guns/Starter pistols) are not! Further clarification is given in § (e): "FIREARMS" means arms of any description designed or adapted to discharge a projectile or projectiles of any kind by the action of any explosive or other forms of energy, and includes …”. (Excuse the CAPS: They are there for emphasis).

The Law is very clear about articles that are considered “ARMS” and “FIREARMS”: Black-firing guns/Starter Pistols do not conform to either legal definition. But blank ammo/primers ARE considered explosive devises – and, by logical extension, so are the explosive “caps” in kid’s cap guns!

Of course, the above interpretation is my personal opinion. I might still have to wait it out in jail while the Forensic Lab and my lawyer both prove me to be correct – or I could save myself a ton of worry beforehand if I had ready cash to grease palms at the Customs. I heard tell that jail food sucks; so do your companions …!
