Abhijeet is correct, scopes by themselves aren't illegal, they are considered optics, not firearms.

My dad took a Leupold (not the Rifleman or the VX-I :) ) to India last week, advantage of having someone bring it, instead of having it shipped is you might save on customs duties.

Naren, a riflescope or any other optical sight for a firearm can only be brought back as part of one's baggage. Importing it via the post or courier route will result in the scope being confiscated. I do know of one person who bought two scopes off ebay, at seperate intervals. He managed to get the scopes but this was the exception rather than the rule and both times, he had to travel to Bombay to clear them from customs.

Good to see you back.

Thank you Mack The Knife, I didn't know that.

Seems like a lot of hassle, if you have to travel to a different city and haggle, in addition to paying customs duties.

i got the rifle stock for my BRNO made to order by Vijay Mistri at Tahir Arms and he charged me only 2500 for walnut material. He has also made astock for my 3006 from rosewood and you can try him as this does not involve import.
Hi Sunil,
Any possiblilty of post a picture of what he has done for your Brno.I am also considering a replacement stock for my Brno mod.2,which now wears a plain beach stock. :(

Many Thanks

That is a unusual way to mount a scope, how is it shooting?

Andy,

My father has a Brno Mod1, serial number 70065, with the same kind of scope. Its a 4x Anschutz Savage with a single post reticle. He says that it came with the rifle. I have used this rifle for the past 30 years and it still performs perfectly. The scope is a bit fogged now so I have got myself a Tasco 3-9x32. The intergral rail is 16mm.

medium mounts, for your quoted objective size.
however, if you have a rear sight that strikes the objective, then high mounts.

high mounts are suited for longer ranges. you can still zero with them.
