Parag ,
Thanks for the pictures. I have always pronounced the name as "ASHAANI"

, it was only after reading it written on the box in Hindi , I realised that it should be pronounced
"ASHNI".
best,
RP.

GOOD LUCK !!...
I can already see that you are excited for the new arrival.... pick it up and check the rifling in the barrel before you leave from there.... no harm in playing with it for some time....

An Interesting Modification of Ashani
This picture has been taken from
http://www.gunaccessory.com/32_IOF_Pistol/
1. The pistol has been parkerized .
2. The magazine release has been shifted to the left side behind the trigger for an easy release by the right thumb.
3. The grip extension has been added to the magazine , the magazine capacity is probably the same.
best,
RP.

the picture has been on gunacessory.com since a long time now, since they started putting the side magazine release button on the Ashani.
The pistol probably is an older model when it came with a black grip - now it comes with brown ones.
Can't say how successful the side release button is, there have been no commentsf from anyone who has tried this new alteration on Ashani.
I don't know if they also modify, alter the fit of the mag, as I find the mags with bottom release - particularly in the Ashani are a little tight fitting.
I wonder if it will eject as smoothly as the imported ones do.
Comments from someone who has used / seen the modified Ashani will be most welcomes on the forum.

good luck Goldstake !
And don't pay attention to any agents / dalals who will swarm you at lalbazar or at the gate of the GSF.
You really don't need them. Everything goes on like a perfectly oiled pistol if you have all your papers in order.

Tight fit in what sense? A loose magazine is not something that is desirable. The IOF pistol has a magazine safety and that is probably the reason why you get that 'tight fit ' feeling.
For the magazine to drop free on the mag. release button being pressed, the mag safety would need to be removed. The fellows at gunaccessory have done that
After fitting this button your pistol would now fire with magazine removed

Congratulations goldstake. Let's see some pics and a full review.

Its been 14 days since I have speed posted my application along with the D.D. for booking the Ashani, but neither is it showing on the web-site, nor are they picking my calls. Can anyone here please advise me what I should do apart from waiting?
