His Honour is busy compiling a project report for tomorrow's meeting which should hopefully bring good things for a certain breed of sportsmen in the months to come.

Lahkar,
Open up the pistol and check it out.If you have a day to spare and the pistol is not up to your expectations, creating a ruckus would ensure that you get a better piece.
Important:-Not all IOF pistol's are created equal

Thanks Parag! As you hv booked in Feb... ur reporting and collection date must be on the ofb website by now... check
http://www.ofb.gov.in -> Track your order...
For newbies : I have taken the pen torch to check the barrel groove and the wooden pencil to check the hammer strike.
My Plan of Action : After taking delivery, I will pull the slide back and lock it. Than I will the check the barrel groove with my pen torch. I saw here somewhere that one IFG member had to rush back to cossipore as the barrel was not riffled. Next I will release the slide and as the pistol is cocked I will insert the wooden pencil in the barrel and fire to see that proper hammer strike is registered at the base of the pencil as if in the primer area of a cartridge. Than I will cock the pistol and engage the safety lock and fire. If the safety lock works fine I will try to fire without putting pressure in the grip safety. If the grip safety also works fine I will remove the magazine and try to fire to check for chamber safety function. If everything works fine I will check the exterior for cuts and scratches. If I am satisfied than I will thank the GSF guy (whoever I see) and walk out. Or else MOWOWOOOWOOOOW !!!
IFG Experts : Please guide me if I am wrong somewhere or I have missed anything.....
So guys.... keep praying for an IFGean

How much moiney had u deposited at the time of booking?
I had sent Rs. 57720, but I haven't recieved advise note for the remaining.

Hi One and All,
Me being a new member and this being my first post, thank the moderators and the other members for such a wondeful site.
I have recently obtained my licence, until then i have been a proud retainer of a Winchester .22 and Colt .32 hammerless.
The Ashani Pistol being a copy of the hammerless, it is what i am gunning for.
I have few Questions for the Experts
1. Should this pistol be bought second hand from Dealers, Is it Legal, safe etc?
2. What could be a reasonable price for such a piece, what should i be checking for?
3. Should i just buy the .22 revolver to cover the purchase period and go for the original? What should i pay for the .22 revolver( i have been quoted 60 k in one place)?
Thanks,
Ice

Ice man V welcome to IFG ,post your introduction in Intro thread ,
For your queries:
No harm in buying Second Hand Pistol(IOF) and you will not have 5 years locking period in it .
.22rev is gud but 60K is bit higher ,,search something around 50k..i think u can get it..
