The IOF .30-06 is a great option. It's accurate and priced at a relatively affordable level.
Cheers!

Be prepared to pay four-five times for an old rifle or ten times or more for new ones.

Hi, as Mr. Abhijeet said IOF .30-06 Sporting Rifle will be the best option for big bore rifle. Other option is IOF .315 Sporting Rifle its chambered in 8×50mmR Mannlicher cartridge, it lacks accuracy at longer ranges. As Vikram said, imported weapons are very expensive and most of them are older than 32 years.

Its simple, if you can find a gun which is in good condition and is available at affordable price then go for it.

The problem with .315 is more to do with ammunition, as the choice is limited to IOF made substandard KF ammunition. From what little I have shot the IOF .315, it prints on paper at 50 meters, though the grouping isn't anything to write home about. Move out to 150 meters and it is impossible to even get the shots on paper! :P

On the other hand there is a wide variety of imported ammunition available for .30-06 and every single IOF .30-06 I have shot (5 or 6 owned by different friends) has been superbly accurate right out of the box.

It can easily hold it's own against any imported rifle in terms of accuracy, often outshooting imported rifles which cost several times more. IOF has done a good job with this rifle. 8)

Abhijeet Sir, it is always a learning experience from you. You have contributed a lot for Gun Community that is growing by every day. And now I am more proud of being an owner of a .30-06 Rifle.

I found a good German made 315 in a shop in Kolkata. Condition is Ok. However price is ridiculously high at 6 lac.
