DELHI ---Gun and Rifle differentiated for new Licence seekers

Post by sainikji » Thu Dec 07, 2017 12:19 pm

As came to my notice that recently there is some new notification which has put Gun and Rifle in different categories i.e. to say that earlier Delhi police used to allow to purchase NBP Gun/Rifle
BUT as of today
for New Licence seekers
they cannot give the choice as of "NPB Gun/Rifle"
but rather
have to either seek NPB Gun or NPB Rifle.

Anyone having copy of such notification can share among IFGians.

Cheers

There is no such notification, "Gun" has always been defined under Indian law as smoothbore i.e. a shotgun, which is obviously different from "Rifle". Both fall under different categories under Schedule I of the Arms Rules. A licensing authority may at it's own discretion issue a license for one or the other or even both.

Cheers!
