Dear all. Where could I buy cheap ammo in India for sports purpose

Post by sathvik » Wed Jun 28, 2017 9:08 pm

I have sports lisence for 12 bore shot gun and for .22 cal rifle . Now I want to buy ammo for practice . Since I'm a student in my 3rd year of engineering it's not Economical to buy ammo worth 100 or more rupees. Can any one advice me where could I buy some cheap ammo for both of my weapons ?

Dear Sattvik,
you have 2 sports licences so i believe you are involved in sports shooting. Get enrolled in a shooting club/ District Rifle shooting Association & you might be able to obtain 22LR ammo for practice at NRAI rates (~Rs 15-20 per pc). Good luck. (y)

This is an interesting question and needs input. Well i suppose here everyone does not have nrai membership and are not aware about all channels of procuring ammo for practice.
I heard some shooters can lend/ sell you their quota ammo at less price then market as they get it around Rs 20 plus for shortgun, but with a condition of returning blanks of same make.
There has been no post for a while , if anyone can reveal the present scenario about procuring ammo, it will be helpfull to many.

Indian Ordinance Factory also sells ammo, try contacting them.

I was going through this thread again and would say sniper2014 is right in recommending to get enrolled in a district or state rifle association . Thats your only bet for cheap ammunition.
I would also like to bring it to your notice that
Such enrollement would entitle you to extend your ammo endorsement to 1000 cartiridges for .22 and 500 cartiridges for 12 bore in a year on your valid licence on the recommendation of said affiliated rifle association.
Do post and share info if any progress on the matter.

Good luck
