Hi Farook, if memory serves Academi was Xe which in turn was Blackwater. In which case yes I have been to Blackwater.
Did some training with the Canadians at the Moyock NC facility...
Seemed a cool setup, defensive driving area, rifle and pistol ranges, some aircraft and they had just started to manufacture their armoured vehicle...The Grizzly..
Cheers

Sadly no, that was 5+ years ago and two hard drive crashes ago….
I know there have been some problems since then and some people are not happy with the way the corporation was run but I can say the folks I met while I was there were top notch. Professional folks with a wealth of practical, real world knowledge to pass on.
I think in later years they took on some folks who were more ‘want to be’ than professional and that contributed to some of the problems they have had but that is just an opinion.

Hi Surajshuresh, while it is fun to train in a place like Academi it is amazing how good training can be in the simplest of environments. It is all about the atmosphere and the intensity of the people taking part.
An old building and some pellet pistols can be most engaging. Practice room clearance by having your partner place 'clay pigeons' around the room unseen to you and then you 'clear the room'. He places 'clays' for you and then goes secondary to your room entry, and vice-versa. It really focuses the hand-eye and it is fun too...just the cost of the pellets and the clays...
