I really doubt 6.50L retail price. As per my knowledge with COD allotment letter it should be upwards of 10L.

Sometime back it was around 10L but in last one year or so Punjab police have consificated thousands of .30 pistol in Punjab which were without proper paper work. As a result people hesitate to buy them now and their prices have gone down.

Yes I know we are talking about the one with COD allotment letter. This is the price that dealer told me when I enquired some 20 days back.

Also to the best of my knowledge these pistols (with letter) which are available with civilians were sold before 2003. After 2003 government had put strict ban on their sale to the civilians.

6.50L is a steal, pm me if you have details of the dealer, I am serious would buy if i get the real deal at that price.

There are lot of fakes of the pistol we are talking they are so ridiculously well made and perform so well for first few hundred rounds that it is very difficult to identify the real one, I have been offered as low as 4.00L on that pistol but seemed fake for price fired a few rounds with it, performed well as well everything is in perfect shape but the gun is so well made it is difficult to identify the fake one. A gun dealer who is pally with me has found an ingenious method to identify the fake & with his method he has hit bullseye in spotting the fake one, what he did(since the market is flooded with fake guns and he has been duped a few times himself) bought the ones with COD allotment letter along with original receipt at higher price, he then field stripped the pistol took out every single part and took the weight of every single piece on the pistol and noted that. That is the assured way to spot the fake coz the parts would not be evenly proportioned (weight wise). Another prominent feature is the difference in the lock mechanism of the barrel in the fake ones.

It's not really sold to civilians much at all its mostly the people related to defense whose pistols land up for resale.

.30 Tok pistols were never imported into the country. The ones in the market are those that were sold at a throw away price to govt. officials by state govt.'s or to army officers as NSP firearms.

1.Any .30 tok pistol that does not have documents to show that it has been sold by govt./govt. organization from confiscated firearms is presumed to have been smuggled into the country.Hence liable to be seized.

2.Re sale of NSP firearms,it has been declared as illegal unless it is to some one eligible to obtain one.In other words it can only be sold to another armed forces officer, serving or retired.Hence any NSP firearm sold to any one other than that would also be liable to be seized.

To any one who feels it can not happen, from what I have come to know and as Ramandeep has pointed out,.30 Tok pistols in the first category have been seized in Punjab.I am sure the second category will be next.It can happen in other states as the law is the same.

Re. ammo. .30 Tok is not in the list of ammo that can be imported, however 7.62 ammo is being imported by declaring it as .30 Mauser ammo. .30 Mauser,as you would know, is 7.63 and not 7.62.

PPU hollow point 7.62 for Rs.110
PPU FMJ 7.63 for Rs. 150
Fiocchi FMJ 7.63 for Rs. 250

Bought some of these last week.

The ammo is pretty easily available all over India at around 80-120/-Rs. a piece, that is another reason that this pistol has picked up in terms of demand in the last 5-7 years if you compare the compare the price of imported ammo of 32 acp which 500-700/-Rs. a piece. It has more penetration power than 32 acp. It's a pretty good ammo.

Winnie_the_pooh Yes you are right in every point you made they were never imported into the country by govt agencies but they have been imported by individual before the prohibition started. Although I have rarely seen a Tokarev tt mostly I have come across are the Norincos (ofcourse they are exact copies of tokarevs courtesy of russians to the chinese). But of recently due to its sudden demand in the market it is popping up at gun dealers every now and then, the illegal ones are speculated to be made in Darra (a place in Pakistan notoriously famous for making guns almost every second house is into making of illegal arms.check the link http://www.pakguns.com/content.php?127- ... ess-Finish ) somehow find their way inside India and have been sold by legitimate gun dealers.

About the ammo you have made a valid point that explains its availabilty in abundance and so cheap.
