11 weapons that only the US has

Post by Lanceman » Fri Jul 12, 2013 10:05 pm

Just check out this link

http://www.businessinsider.com/11-incre ... 011-9?op=1

.....but then they haven't won a war since WW2....

But then as the sales pitch goes in the defence glossies "the enemy only has to see it to run away".....
Have fun

:D Interesting read sir. What I found most amazing was the MQ9 Reaper Drone. Payload capacity of 3000 pounds, wowsers. But these can never replace the cocky fighter pilots, can they

Now all we need is a belt fed AA12....

Moin, yes fighter pilots were cocky in the days of spitfires, camel sopwiths and hurricanes, enemy goes down in flames and the victor waggles his wings.... scarf trailing in the breeze. do you know there is a controversy on who shot down Baron von Richtofen? apart from the Brit pilot he was fighting, there is a view that the infantry in the trenches below shot him down with a .303.... chalk one up for the good ole SMLE!!!
today with BVR, the pilot is playing a high speed video game, he seldom sees the enemy. even the drones flying in afgh and pak are piloted from somewhere in US. ...and i read somewhere they get stressed.... maybe the AC is not enough or the coke is warm?

Other than the drone, that article has more to do with corporate pork than any weapon system that has a battlefield benefit IMHO.

Actually, a lot of evidence points to an Australian machine gun team downing the Red Baron.

Yes Timmy, even I have heard of that, or it was rifles....

No, it was a machine gun unit of Australians. The plotted the known course of Richthofen and the locations of the various units, both aerial and ground, on a topographic map and the only possibility was the Australians. The round was .303, though.

Funny that some of these incredible weapons are safe for use against civilians in America if they disagree with the government.

So..you are saying...

flying skill disappeared with piston engines
there were no more air aces since the jet age began
today's pilots sit and drink coke in their cockpits because there is naught all to do
The US has not won a war since WW2?

You forget the first Gulf War; the liberation of Kuwait.

The stresses and burnout come from the long hours and the thought of killing people in cold blood.

No to mention Korea and the second Gulf war

The mig alley was neither created by scarf waving tail wagging bushy tailed i-say-chaps, nor by half asleep drinkers of chilled coke
