This is the pistol that the then "Seal Team Six" (now called DEVGRU) under "Demo Dick" Richard Marcinko selected after they had problems with their Beretta 92F (M9) pistol. They have stayed with it ever since. All internal parts are Phosphate coated to prevent corrosion from sea water which is the usual theater that the SEAL's operate in.
The battle-proven P226 pistol platform has proven itself to be an uncompromising, combat-ready pistol, clearly demonstrating that when it counts, SIG SAUER is there.
And, for the first time, the United States Navy has granted SIG SAUER permission to sell the new contract pistol, designated the MK25, to the general public.
The commercially available MK25 is identical to the firearm SIG SAUER delivers under contract to the Naval
Surface Warfare Center (NSWC). Built to the Navy’s demanding standards, the MK25 comes chambered in
9mm, with a phosphate finish applied to all internal components, providing corrosion resistance in even the
harshest of saltwater environments.
The engraved gold anchor on the pistol’s slide hints at its military origin, while the UID code on the right side
serves as a genuine badge of authenticity. The true mil-spec 1913 rail is machined into the hardcoat anodized
alloy frame, providing a solid mounting point for lights, lasers and accessories.
A light-hearted look at one Seal's devotion to his MK25

thats a beauty.
since it is water proof,i feel you don't have to clean the barrel or oil as often as we do.and does not look so huge like the beretta 92.if you buy this gun, shoot an extra 10 for me xl_target.

Dr sahib,
Apart from the phosphated internal parts, the slightly different rail and the anchor stamped on the side, it really isn't that different from a standard SIG Sauer P226. However, I think there are some people who might buy it just because it is the gun that the Seals use. There is no denying that it is a very nice handgun and that it is durable and reliable but is it worth the asking price of $1142?
I'm afraid that the only way I'll be getting the MK25 is if I win the sweepstakes that I signed up for here. Anyway, if I win it, I will have no worries when I stand by the fountain on my next visit to the shopping mall.

sig pistols always commanded a high price in the first place, do like it above the Beretta . since water proof and tested in the sea which means salt water -rusting is the last thing one needs to worry about saying that a little oil would not go amiss.
side track -have you read Marcinko's book seal team six. well worth it shows some far sighted thinking. get the video as well. a man's man.

if you say it can not be done, then you are right, for you, it can not be done.
Yes, I have read several of Marcinko's books. That is one guy that you would not want pissed off at you. Rogue Warrior was the first book, where he talks about creating Seal Team Six and the problems they had with the Beretta. I believe Beretta has since fixed the issue.
I also spend some time on Sigforum.com and remember reading about on SIG P226 that had slide failure or frame failure and the round count was around a quarter of a million rounds. This was a pistol that had been used at a US Navy station for training for years. I wouldn't be able to run through that much ammo in several lifetimes.
SARCO has several used P226's starting from $325 to $450. These are probably law enforcemnt turn-ins. From members on SIGforum who have bought them, thy seem to have been carried a lot but shot very little. Thy also have P228's starting at $275 and a bunch of other deals. http://sarcoinc.com/11-01-11_gunpages.pdf
