First things first

Shooting will drain around Rs 1 - 1.5 L if you do pistol and 1.5L to 2 L for rifles just to begin with air rifles.
Your daily expenses will be around Rs 150 /-

If you go for .22 rifle or pistol or shotgun we are talking even more money.

So before you put in so much money why dont you visit a shooting range around your place. They will guide you and for a fraction of the cost you will get a feel.

I would say try things for atleast 6 months before you even put in a penny into shooting sport.
Use this time to save some money
Once you are convinced buy your equipment.
If you are out of Delhi goto Sirifort.

Sirifort is the sports complex.

Instead of calling people on range just visit the place.

I don't intend to be cynical here ....but I guess you have got your first lesson in the Indian shooting circuit...........YOU WON"T GET A LOT OF HELP..........

What stream you want to pursue ? 10mtr Air Rifle or 10mtr Air Pistol........

I will guide you as much as I can if you are keen on 10mtr Air Rifle........
For 10mtr Air Pistol please refer to "Tips on Pistol Shooting" thread.

Do you know anyone in your city who is into competitive shooting ? They can give you some advice. Don't ask for help. Ask for advice..........They will have plenty of that to give you, you can then separate the wheat from the chaff...

This sport is expensive and equipment intensive.....so you must be in it for the long term.....

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

OP's location shows Udaipur and I believe Siri Fort is in New Delhi.
