Thanks guys. What about the .380 ammo? Is it easily available? I have heard they are bit expensive.

To say from the India point of view .380 is powerful than .32ACP but to say from the international point of view, both lacks stopping power.

that is good point, in this regard in India .357 magnum would be much better in stopping power (600-700 ft·lbf) compare to average 300 ft·lbf of .38 and from .357 magnum revolver it is possible to shoot .38 revolver cartridges too.

.38 is better than .32 in terms of stopping power,as I see it,big bullets let in a lot of air and let out a lot of blood :D The real question is can you handle it,the recoil I mean? Two good hits with a .32 is much better than a narrow hit with a .38.The aim in self defense is to hit your target in the center of mass, multiple hits till the target is disabled(in the Indian scenario, not always practical).

What with the 50 ammo per year and 20 ammo at any time rule? How much shot you will put in the stomach or chest without running out of ammo in case of multiple attackers (It's one of the stupid laws that needs to be changed, One of my online friend in Arizona was proudly showing me the 10,000 5.56 ammo he brought online while I was drooling :P) Well, if you start on .38 or .357 and never fire .32 or .380 you will think that's the normal recoil and get used to it, Its a human nature to get adjusted to things that can't be changed (Its one of the things that makes gun bans work, we get adjusted to them). Come on man, you don't need to be hulk to fire .357 As I mentioned already in the forum I have sen a woman firing .454 Casull better than all of us.

.45 is prohibited bore in India, but I heard that some members here from Mumbai got registered .45ACP on NPB license, but that's Mumbai only.

by stopping power .45ACP is similar to .357 magnum, but revolver cartridge much more easy to reload.

.455 Webley similar to .32 by energy around 300 ft·lbf
