A Gurkha soldier, who fought 40 train robbers, to be felicitated in the Republic Day of India

While in the train, Maurya Express from Ranchi to Gorakhpur, on September 2, 2010, 35 year-old Bishnu saved a girl about to be raped by the train robbers in front of her helpless parents. After looting the train, when the robbers started to strip a 18 year old girl in front of him, he couldn’t contain his calmness. He took out his khukari and took on the a group of 40 robbers, alone. In the fight, he killed three of dacoits and injured eight others. Remaining dacoits fled the scene to save their lives.

The police arrested the eight injured dacoits and recovered Rs. 400,000 in cash, 40 gold necklaces, 200 cell phones, 40 laptops and other items left by the robbers while fleeing the train.

Field Marshal Manekshaw ( Sam Bahadur) once famously quoted, that, ” If someone says, he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying, or he is Gurkha”

Wow! Another addition to the well deserved Gurkha legend.
Now, there's a real MAN!

Had it not been for just only 1 armed Gurkha soldier, you can imagine what would have happened. Hundreds of unarmed train passengers would have been mute spectators like a bunch of sheep.

they have done very well indeed, in most such cases some from the public usually will try to interfere and protect poor dakoits from "bloody killer"

I take my hat off to that brave man.Legend.Sat, thank you for posting.

Now, could someone please ask Messrs Bina Mani Nepram, Avirook 'the feelings' Sen et al and etc, to read this clipping? Forty train robbers, robbed defenseless people and were about to publicly rape a young girl in front of her parents, all on a train which probably had one or two armed guards. Where were these people to protect them? Where was the government to protect them? And they say we are being paranoid? They say that we exaggerate? Lets see what Ms Nepram and Mr Sen would do in the place of that girl and the parents. Report to the police? And? Difficult to stand these self-righteous hypocrites.

Sorry, folks, for the rant.

Best-
Vikram

No need to get all excited... If we know how our babus work...anyone applying for an arms license for self-protection will probably be asked to keep a khukri armed Gurkha rather than be allowed to own a...ugh... gun.

Salute the gallant soul!

Hope we have country men as valiant as he.

This is what Bishnu Shrestha says he would have been a “meek spectator” had he have been without his Kukri".

Hope all guys travelling in train become eligible to gun licnece as per new notification "Grave & immediate threat to life"

Donnt know wat the armed guards escorting the trains where doing?
