0.32 IOF revolver- Small arms factory OR Field Gun Factory
Respected Sirs,
Greetings!!
As in my introductory post I have mentioned that I am planning to buy IOF 0.32 revolver asap, after doing all analysis. I am slightly confused that which one will be better, SAF one or FGK one.
I have read in many posts that there is no internal or manufacturing difference between both of them, but somewhere in this blog I read that the FGK writes MK III on the revolver and SAF does not. Sir, is SAF still giving MK I type, I read that MK I had an issue of hammer.
After doing some research myself on the internet, I saw a difference in (pics only) the foresight- Blade as FGK - one seems to be more elongated towards the shooter side and SAF looks small ear type, resembling the one in my father's webley.
I like the latter better, but if SAF produces MK I or a different revolver as compared to FGK, then I will go for FGK.
Sir, also is it true that there is a rifling issue in IOF 0.32 revs.
Kindly guide me.

Dear friend go for 0.32 Revolver With Filed Gun Factory Kanpur, as per their delivery schedule they are delivering the Revolver to us almost three months for the date of booking, where the Small Arms factory Kanpur are giving the Revolver within Ten Days, but there is a difference “Field Gun Factory” are supplying MK- III, which they have confirmed to me Under one of my "RTI" to their office that “Only Revolver MK-III is being manufactured in the year 2010-2011, so i am going to purchase from Field Gun Factory.

On observing the pictures and my novice experience i could just find the difference in the target sight at the end of the muzzle ;only the FGF sight is bigger and the SAF sight is smaller and tht the top of the grip the hunch is bigger in FGF andthan SAf product.. rest God Knows betterThe Doc wrote:Oops !!peterdk wrote:the one you have in your photo album is a gun i have in my gun cabinetperfectionist wrote: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://picasaweb.google.com/10876308934 ... 0876308934 ... ectionist#</a><!-- m -->

Re: 0.32 IOF revolver- Small arms factory OR Field Gun Factory
I had the opportunity recently to discuss with senior Army officers of the Ordinance Corps about the IOF revolver. The actual position is that all revolvers are manufactured at the Field Gun Factory as it only has the foundary with the mold for the .32 revolver. Most of the revolvers are assembled in this factory and sent out to the various sales outlets except the Small ArmsFactory and the Ordinance factory ar Ambarnath in Maharastra. At these two factories, the components supplied by the FieldGunFactory are assembled and sold to the public as finished products. At present there is overproduction and hence the delivery time is short. It was further clarified to me that all present productions are mark -111 models and Mark-4 is undergoing fieldtrial. Shall let you knowshortly, when it will be ready for sale.

Actually, bulk of it is made by private manufacturers and the IOF chaps just put it together.Guess how they get the contract.indiaone wrote:I had the opportunity recently to discuss with senior Army officers of the Ordinance Corps about the IOF revolver. Mr.Peter,
Thanks for writing your comments on my post. I have never said that the Isaac Hollis pics are of my family gun but if you read my post it says - "You may also see a photo of Isaac Hollis & Co. DB sxs, a similar my family owns."
It is good to hear that the pics are of your gun, I am impressed with the upkeep, but I never said it is of my gun.
Request you to please not to jump to guns before reading properly and mocking anyone in a forum.
Best,
