International shooter still does not have a Arms License

Post by sat » Sun Dec 30, 2012 12:54 pm

Thought I share this article with you which show the attitude of Licensing Authorities in our state.

2002 Commonwealth Gold Medalist Mahavir Singh (he was with the Army marksmanship Unit, Mhow) has won 86 National Level medals, 12 International medals and has not been issued an Arms License by the Rajasthan State Government. His Application has been pending since 2009. He won the Standard Pistol Gold at the recently concluded National shooting Championship with a borrowed pistol.

So whats new in India? Half the shooters borrow guns precisely because the authorities don't 'grant' them a license.

Absolute shame.
Justice alone is the mainstay of government and the source of prosperity to the governed, injustice is the most pernicious of things; it saps the foundations of the government and brings ruin upon the realm - Sher Shah Sur, Sultan-ul-Adil.

What a shame !

I appreciate the publisher for highlighting the issues.

But, everywhere it is mentioned that he wants license for weopen.
And that is the real problem, the ignorance and lack of understanding.
He wants license for firearms, more perticularly sporting firearm. To persue his sports.
He is not asking for 'WEOPEN' license.

Even a cricket bat and stumps can be a weopen. But thank God they dont require license ,in India right now.

Regards.

He did get his arms license & I am told he has imported under 'renowned shot' category, a Morini free pistol, Pardini .22LR standard & Pardini .32 center fire Pistol.
