Issf running target discipline

Post by Safarigent » Mon Feb 27, 2012 1:50 am

I was looking up about the various issf events and noticed that the running target events are not held in india at all!!
Why is that? And can a shooter go take part elsewhere in the world?

Because targets run faster than money.

Hitting a running target is practically beating the bush in high density populated areas if you are talking about army thing and not much advisable that also includes hunting wildlife for regular hunters - Haji

1. It cant be more expensive than shotgun or big bore shooting. 10m running target is with an airrifle. How is that expensive??? Both 10m, and 25 m are 60 shots. That isnt any more expensive than the normal air rifle or .22 rifle discipline prone.
2. Its not a sporting clays range that needs space, its prety similar to a normal ten or fifty meter range, just with extra width.
3. Skeet was started for wingshooting practise, so was trap. If we can play those, why not running target?

IIRC, I remember Shimon from Indianshooting.com talking about ISSF running target equipment lying unused with the NRAI for the past 10 years or so..

Simon Sharief is a great proponent of the Running Target event, which I understand is no longer an Olympic event.

No posts?
I am sure it would be a good opportunity for airgunners as well as .22 rifle shooters to get out and have some fun or am i the only one who thinks so?

The 10mtr version is shot with a standard match air rifle and a 4x power scope on it. It should be very interesting to have a go at it. But I guess only one follows it (Shimon) and two would like to (you and me)

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Here is one more for running targets - love the bead, tracking, leading and squeeze - much more exciting than stationary targets!

I am fine as long as the targets do the running; my knee joints not being as flexible as they used to be :(
