advice.

Post by marksman » Thu Apr 12, 2007 11:51 am

Hello Guys,
I have been offered one Diana Air Rifle mod. 48/52 in 5.5mm cal. along with a a Bushnell High quality Air Rifle scope (Sportview 4x32). The owner claims it's as new piece and was bought in UAE. The asking price is around 50K. Is this air gun worth investing the said amount? He is not sure if the main spring has been weakened, but claims the rifle gives magnum velocity. I wonder if this rifle would prove accurate. I could always seek the help of our forum I guess, as I have no personal experience with this particular model. Please advise.
Marksman

ps: Diana claims the velocity to be around 900 fps in 5.5mm and 1100 fps with .177mm model.. the retail price is pretty steep.

Marksman,

You are being taken for a ride.

Bushnell Sportview 4x32 is amongst the cheapest scope in the Bushnell line up.

A new and unused Diana 52 will cost you Rs.32,000.00 MAXIMUM in Bangalore.

If you have that sort of budget for an airgun, I would recommend you buy one of the Weihrauch models - HW77K, HW97K or HW80K. Don't buy the HW90.

I'll look up weirhauch on the net for the models suggested by Rustom before I do anything stupid. Thanks all of you for all the help. Will keep you informed Marksman.

Hi All,

I was quoted 65k for Diana Airking 54 from local chennai dealers. When I enquired with Gsmith, they quoted 45k(it takes a month to deliver). Can we rely on them and get the weapon? Please advice.

Hi indian gsmith is a authorised diana dealer who assures of original german stuff though at a premium cost nut i think one can bank on his genuineness and he will bloody well provide you with a diana guarantee.his costs however do pinch you!get in touch with some pune based IFG member who i am sure can interreact with gsmith personally.otherwise his tele is 09822022840.give us a feedback of his services in case you go for such a deal.andy

Unfortunately, that is not the case any longer.

Not too long back one could have bought a new HW77K, HW80, HW90, HW 97K, Diana 48, 52 and 350 Mag for between Rs.30,000.00 to Rs.32,000.00

These days the dealers are asking for Rs.40,000.00 and upwards and this is just to book the order. As far as I know they do not have any ready stock.

By booking orders how does a dealer ensure the supply of the model booked ? Are arms dealers in India allowed to import air rifles and sell them ?

Are HW products sold in India ?

Also is the Bushnell Sportsview 4x32 a rated Air Rifle scope ? This is important to know before anyone fits it on an air rifle. On the Bushnell site, this info will be there.

He doesn't. Though if you were to listen to their sales talk, you'd be forgiven for believing them. One week can well stretch into three months or more.

Not that I know off.
Are HW products sold in India ?
Yes but in dribs and drabs. The majority are imported from Dubai.

Probably. Someone I know has had one on his full power Diana 52 for quite sometime now and the last time I saw it, it was still going strong. However, I must add that this person does not shoot his air-rifle very often.
