Hi guys,

I am flying Air France from US to India and would like to bring an Air Gun with me. I am not a member of any shooting club. Can you please advice as to how should I go about it?

Aditya

Dear Bodhisattwa,

If you're not a shooting club member, chuck the idea. The customs won't let your gun in.

Cheers,
N.

P.S- No membership, no gun..Period!

the customs at Delhi are not allowing airguns NARI member or not. unless one has airgun licence and import licence. due to the recent court case. based on this they are using the court order to deny entry, thats what i just heard.
Nagarifle

if you say it can not be done, then you are right, for you, it can not be done.

little change in import of .177 air weapons via post.

Now, every importer, has to get DGCA permission, to import .177 air weapon.

even if u r a NRAI member, even if u have a renowned shot certificate.

the exporter will not dispach ur airgun, unless u send him, a DGCA permit.

They are asking for a letter from NRAI which states that one is a member of NRAI and is allowed to import an air gun / rifle / pistol. When asked for notification no., they come up blank. Bureaucracy at its best.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

I placed an order with Moroni, they told me, they will accept my payment, and will process my order, but will dispach only if i give them DGCA permit from india.

and 3 of my friends, got there lp10, but before sending company asked them, to get a DGCA permit, and they received them week back.

DGCA - Director Gentral Civil Aviation.

& here is the application format.

the process is very simple,

pls fill in this form complete + attach a invoice, and send them.

Further, they will send u the required permission, which u can scan & send to ur airgun exporter.

Thanks for the DGCA information and the letter .So one has to send this by post to New Delhi and DGCA sends the permit back by post.
