The crime branch of Delhi Police has claimed to have arrested an inter-state arms supplier. Police have recovered a huge cache of ammunition and 14 sophisticated weapons from the possession of the accused, Manish Kumar, who hails from from Bihar.

Police said that Manish (26) used to smuggle firearms from Bihar and supply those to criminals in Delhi and NCR cities.

A graduate, Manish used to sell each weapon for Rs 50,000. He has been allegedly involved in the arms smuggling for the past one year. He was arrested from near Sector 24 of Rohini on Saturday when he had come to deliver a consignment, said police.

"We have recently started a drive against illegal arms suppliers and have made necessary tie-ups with police of other states. Manish has been on our radar for the past few months,'' said joint CP (crime) Amulya Patnaik.

Police said that Manish's elder brother Dipak Kumar had also been behind bars for past six months after being arrested on similar charges in Munger in Bihar. "Manish sold weapons made in Munger for an amount ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 each. He also provided spare magazines and ammunition to his buyers. According to Manish, there was a good demand for these weapons in the NCR,'' said additional CP (crime) Neeraj Thakur.

Manish earned a profit of nearly Rs 30,000 on each weapon. The manufacturing cost for him varied from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, said police. He also used to get them etched and marked with engravings of `Made in Italy', `Made is USA', `Made in England', `Beretta', `Smith & Wesson'. He allegedly used to bring 10-15 weapons at a time hidden in his luggage, during his trips to western UP and NCR, Thakur added.

Following his arrest, police raided various places in Mirzapur and Munger in Bihar along with local police there. "Manish has pointed out the places where these illegal weapons were being manufactured. Raids are still being conducted at various places in Bihar,'' Thakur said.

Police said that everytime that Manish used to visit Delhi, he carried a different mobile and a new SIM to avoid police dragnet. The cops also seized a mobile phone that he had been using to keep in contact with middlemen. "We have identified a few receivers of the weapons and are conducting raids to nab them,'' said a senior police officer.
Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

I had seen some more threads where IFGans came across such "Made in England etc" type of weapons.

Thanks for the information, m24.

The online news article did not carry the pics of the guns captured. The print one does. I'll try to scan and post it. You will not believe your eyes. A few of them look like the Huqs as was discussed in the forum earlier.

Regards
