msandhu";p="55689 wrote: TRUTH". Now I am not sure how you can say Wikipedia or encyclopedia are unsubstantiated websites. There is tons of information there and most of it is very accurate too. ( not saying everything written there is always true). As far as the show that i mentioned here , they also show something only after doing some research .

On both the mediums ( web site and the show ) they did mentions that the exact number is of kills is not known.

but i AM, i AM saying wikipedia, most of the internet and the telly are unsubstantiated sources of fact, of unknown authorship most times, and not held as quotable references anywhere, not even, you might discover, on our very own IFG. on the other hand, i feel very safe in quoting Beevor that Zaytsev announced that he wanted to score 150, but fell short of one kill.

the whole plan of my exercise was to allude to the above fact. that the printed word still reigns, and that you had missed the whole point about my remarks earlier. hence, i give up

please accept my apologies as you flick the remote. there's some sensationalised trash about Mig alley on the same channel, that you might like to check out.

Hemiclar,
Chill out man.. you are a hard nut.. Anyway i think i do agree with you on some points.
Here is another source of information from same channel( i know you hate this one :P ).
"Zaytsev's record speaks for itself: 149 confirmed kills, with an unconfirmed tally that may be as high as 400."

Peace to all. Looks like a lifetime spent in digging evidence is finally taking it's toll :) or is it old age catching up.

sitar, you are right, of course. mandeep, sorry if it went a bit overboard! no offence meant, and none taken!

I'm sure abhijeet is going to be locking this thread soon, so just squeezing in this extra tit bit that our friend Vasily came up with the idea of fixing telescopic sights to rocket launchers....to knock out german pill boxes and machine gun nests!

i do have another printed reference for it, but why bother, the wikipedia wingnuts'll never believe me anyway :P
