Freinds a new WP has been filed no12805 and 12806. gwattal,i have attached allahabad,bombay high court orders.the judges are reluctant to go against the District magistrates?
tommorow being the last working day before summer holidays,hope they take up the petition.

I've been revisiting places I don't frequent as often. The coming November 4 US election spurred me to check in with other firearms forums I haven't been to in a while.

In my state armed police are not allowed to patrol the polls, but civilians may carry guns to the polling places. I open carry my primary sidearm when I vote, just like everywhere else, unless I have to wear a coat. We have Constables that are civilian police in my state (not part of a government police department) and they are allowed to be armed at the polls and are obligated to keep the peace at the polls.

Lets just say the government trusts its citizens. In my country the administration trusts neither the police nor the citizens. During elections the army ( central reserve police force ) is called in and all citizens have to surrender their weapons. If that is not sufficient most senior police officers are transferred just before the elections.

In India the case is just the reverse. The government does not trust the citizens, forget the citizens with "arms". The level of distrust is such that even for getting a land line phone connection, you are required to provide proof of "identity".

It won't be entirely incorrect if someone says that democracy in India is a cleverly subverted and well disguised farce. In practice it seems to be a colonial and police state where the acts of state terrorism like custodial tortures, custodial deaths, rapes, extra judicial killings and disappearances have special place to deal with political opponents.
