Prodecure for New Arms License (Punjab)

Process of Arms Licence (Punjab)

Its my first post please be kind.

This is the process for Ferozepur District, it could take anywhere between 3 Weeks to 2 months if you are willing to do EFFORT. If you dont wanna do any effort, then atleast 6 months to 1 year (it may vary in different districts but overall process would be similar)

Most important things to remember:
Make sure the file is COMPLETE before you start the process or else u will have delays when its in the last steps of the process.
Taking the file by hand are just my own suggestions and not advices they may or may not work for you so i am not liable for your actions.

1. Application for issue of file for arms licence. (Application can be written from any notary.)

2. Application needs to be marked by the DC. (U might need recommendation)

3. Go to local Red Cross office with the signed application and pay the appropriate fee and get the file.(Fee for firozpur Rs10000)

4. Take the file to a notary person who will fill the file for you. (better if someone does it for you)
Documents Required:
a) Attested copies of ID and address proof (adhaar card, voter card)
b) 10th Certificate
c) Medical Certificate (from mbbs doctor)
d) Naksha of your house (Notary people can arrange one for you)
e) Affidavit

5. Take the file to DC office LCA Branch and have the clerk mark(sign) the file, then to the DRO and have him mark the file.

6. Take the file back to Arms Department DC office and have your file number assigned.

7. Take the file to SSP office and get a file number assigned. (from here on you will not be handed the file… unless you have the recommendations)

8. File will be sent by mail to your local post office in case you did not get it by hand.

9. Have the local police station write an application for the Training Centre in Phillour. (i hope you know how to get the police to do things)

10. Make sure you go to Phillour on a Tuesday because there are three days of classes that need to attended and the licences are only issued on every Thursday.

Things u need for Phillour:
Medical Certificate
Have a draft made before you go to the training centre. (this is best to be probably made from SBI Bank in Phillour )
Draft Details:
General Secretary Ranjit Garh Rifle Club PPA Phillaur
Amount Rs 3000.
Payable at Phillour

Go to gate 1 at the Phillour killa and get yourself entered in the register, you will be guided from here on...

11. Go back to the local police station and have them do the necessary formalities (again u should know how the SYSTEM works)
1. Affidavit signed by Sarpanch and Numberdar (they will need to sign your file too)
2. Verification by: Head Constable, ASI, SHO
The file is supposed to be sent by mail to the DSP office (u can take by hand if you can!)

12. DSP signs the file (this is not as simple as it sounds, need some recommendation or else this is where the process will stop) it will be sent by mail to the SSP
Office Arms Branch.

13. The arms branch accepts the file and puts a number in the register. (the file is ‘SAFELY’ stored here ;) )

14. Now you need the SSP to sign the file. Again u will need recommendations and also depending on your districts DC, SSP may or may not sign the file until he has the orders to do so. This step can only take time but most probably will not get rejected here. If you do get the SSP to sign the file for u, it will be sent to the LCA branch in DC office.

THIS IS THE LAST STAGE IN THE JOURNEY OF YOUR FILE

15. The LCA branch signs and stores the file. Now you will need to get the DC to give OK to the LCA branch for the file to move. If they don’t get the ok you can talk to whoever you want it will stay there.

16. Once the LCA branch gets the OK from DC. The file will be signed by the Clerk and then taken to the DRA officer, the DRA signs and sends the file to SP, the SP checks and signs the file and is sent to DTO (not sure if DTO process is for all districts) DTO signs and send the file to ADC. ADC signs and send the file to DC, after DCs signatures the license is approved and the file goes back to the LCA branch. (This step was done in one day for me, it depends who u know)

……………………..
TIME FOR PHOTOGRAPH

1. Your file is sent to Suwidha Centre for your photograph. (can take it by hand if they allow or else u will have to wait till you get a call)

2. Once the photo is done, you will get a receipt and given a date for you to come pick up your licence. (this process can be fast tracked if you can get it done by the LCA branch as they can call you once they have the license verification done, you can have the license picked up from them and taken to Suwidha and have a HOLOGRAM stuck on the license)

And you have your license!!
