Just got back from the LG's office. They asked me questions about my education ( :o ), business ( ), family history ( ) and about what experience I have with weapons.

The LG has instructed DP Licensing to give me a personal hearing in Feb. (They wanted to schedule it for April, but I protested)

I have no idea what to make of this, my lawyer was NOT present for the hearing.

Well,
I think its time you took that handgun shooting course.
BEFORE you go for the interview.
I know, its not a requirement, but if it helps the application and gets you familiar with the operation of firearms, why not.
Also, take printouts of the various court judgements regarding slef defence.
When they issue you a license, they might again give it for one year.
Its your call whether you want to accept it or not.

P.S. did you tell them about these chaps handing over a 1 year license?

Tried calling Mr. Sharif, he didn't pick up. Will try him again tomorrow.

I did today, they didn't even ask me any of that.

I won't. 15.1 & 15.3, I have them memorized.

As I said, they didn't talk about ANYTHING. I even mentioned to the LG that a personal hearing with the licensing branch will do me no good. His response was 'this is the course that the law must follow before I can intervene!'

Yeah, I know.

No wonder the PIO in Delhi Police Licensing can lie to me about the 'Specific Threat' clause (they said that the way they evaluate this is in the Arm Act) and the ACP can reject my appeal (Saying that the PIO has provided all relevant information) to that response without giving me a personal appeal. F***ing frustrating, I know I will be back in front of the LG again in a month.

Well, look at it this way, whatever happens, you will be in possession of your license in a few months.
You will cherish it all the more then because of the pain, trouble and humiliation you went through and will embrace NAGRI all that more strongly!
:)
So, welcome to the club brother, and fight it through.
Cheers

Once granted, I will use my life to protect my license, and not the other way around.

inplainsight,

I know its not the best outcome you but glad u r persevering. Just wondering why the lawyer wasn't present with you in the hearing? You might want to consider taking him to the ACP. I think AB did- not sure how much that helped?

I wouldn't be too surprised if the ACP grants the license- my experience with the licensing department is that if they see you standing up and contesting their decision LEGALLY/ filing an appeal they usually go on the back foot. I remember the clerks expression and behaviour changing as soon as I had told him I had filed an appeal and he seemed almost certain i will be granted a license- though mine was for sports purpose.

Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.

Regards,
SS

I am from the same club my friend, got my license from LG after two refusals. He is right about the clause of personal hearing. If you would have interviewed by Delhi police & them refused for license, LG could pass the order to issue the license straight away.

Trust us, you will get it in your next visit to licensing.

I just got a call from someone at the Delhi Police Licensing office informing me that my hearing is scheduled for 11 AM tomorrow. I clearly recall them giving me a time of 3 PM on Feb 13th. Is this normal?

I wouldn't read too much into the hearing being rescheduled. Could be simply because of administrative reasons. Whatever the reason it works for you since you will know the outcome sooner.

Good luck!

So I just got back from my hearing with the ACP and I'm ecstatic to report that my NPB Pistol Application for protection has been Approved.

He asked me a few questions about my business and my 'need' for self defense.

I'm grateful to this forum and its members for helping me fight this!

Now, I have to work on acquiring a pistol, getting my area of validity extended and getting my ammunition quota increased!
