NRAI or State membership?

Hello,

What is the difference between getting membership from NRAI and from a State rifle association Telangana/Karnataka?

1. Do members of the NRAI get same facilities at the state?
2. Does LA differentiate approving new license on the basis of membership?

Anything else one should know before choosing between the NRAI and state.

TSRA and Karnataka members personal experience will be great. Thank you.

My Personal Thoughts..
State Membership is like Riding a Bike in ur Gully. Where your Range is within the Gully/Mohalla. NRAI is like getting your own Dirver's Licence to Drive Cross-Country (No Limitations).
You should already be License Holder before applying for NRAI (That's my opinion). Because you should ideally go for a NRAI Membership when you plan on Competing on National / Inter-national Levels.

Having said that there is no stopping you to get a NRAI Membership without a License. Since, in India much of the things are based on outlook/show-off, so, the LA Babus may look at your application with a tad-bit more importance if you are a NRAI Member. :) I said MAY. :P :P

Try reading some of the earlier posts on this topic, you can start with this one http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?t=23266#p251177 am quoting the post below as well, for convenience:-
If you wish to participate in competitions, then you need to join your State Association or a District unit/ club which is affiliated with them. State/ district units also (usually) provide ammunition/ pellets for practice at the range (against payment of course). They may also have firearms/ airguns for rent at the range.

If you wish to use the range in Bangalore, I believe that is owned by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), so you may need to take separate range membership as well (please check with them to confirm). If the SAI system works the same as in Delhi, the range membership would also allow you to rent SAI firearms for use at the range (if you have a valid license), but they will provide no ammunition.

NRAI membership only allows you to purchase some limited items from NRAI (see their website for what is available). Contrary to what some people believe, it does NOT confer upon you any right to use any shooting range/ any other such facilities (since they have none).

Thanks Mundaire,

My though is the LA prefers applicants who have enrolled in the local/state rifle association more than from NRAI.

And do state member eligible to practice/participate in other state competitions?

TSRA users have mentioned that good equipment is kept separately access limited police and security personnel. And the worn out are supplied to individuals who come for practice.
