Yes , Very much . You dont have to be 21 years of age to join any club, rather if you are a student you will be paying a discounted rate as joining fee which is almost half of the regular joining fee.

There used to be one known as Tollygunge Rifle Club, (Film Actor Anil Chatterjee, Renowned Author Buddhadeb Guha were some of the elite member of that club), but its no longer exists now and closed. The nearest club from your location is south kolkata rifle club , located in PTS, oppostie to race course. But the facilities are very limited and I am not sure how much active they are in these days.

I am a new member of this forum after a several visits to this site and watched various topics and understood the importance of the membership here to know and share valuable inputs. I am from a different occupation, but I always dreamed off as a sportsperson in shooting circle, which was not possible until now. Whatever the hurdles maybe, I believe I can start and continue it with my present occupation.

I am from Kalyani, Nadia, so, I believe Serampore Rifle Club will the best option for me to access. I have listed down some of my queries, I need your guidance.

1. What is the procedure for joining the above mentioned rifle club?
2. What is the eligibility criteria for joining/being a member of the club? Whether age will be of any factor for joining?
3. Will there be training facilities available for a beginner like me?

Serampore Rifle Club is very much Active. The best way to join the club would be to visit it personally on Sunday. It's open 7days a week, but it's better you go on Sunday.

Answers to Basic Queries:

1. Age is no Bar for Entry.
2. You should bring your Voter ID card / Aadhar Card / PAN Card, etc for verification purposes. 2 Passport Photos are required as well.
3. Training Facilities are provided as well.
4. Multiple Membership options are available.
5. You can join any time, just bring the required documents & you are good to go.

Note: I cannot personally provide any numbers. Best would be to come to the club directly. However, I will talk to the club secretary, if I can provide the contact number here.

I am 16 years old. How can I join Serampore rifle Club? I want to pursue small bore rifle shooting (.22lr). Also wanted to know that since I already have an air rifle and I have been practicing with homemade paper targets for 3 years now. So my question is that will the club people allow me to practice small bore shooting (.22lr) directly, or will I again have to practice with air rifle shooting?

Dear Sachin, you can start shooting directly by a
22lr rifle. No need to practice with the air rifle first.
