I have previously made clear the capricious and inconsistent way New Jersey law is applied to gun owners. Whatever protections are supposed to be in place are not, due to the kind of activities detailed in this article. That the man was storing black powder illegally is not in dispute, and whatever penalty applies to that infraction is one thing. However, the storage of black powder has nothing to do with his other, legally owned guns. As we have seen, that makes no difference.

To try and split legal hairs in New Jersey is of no avail, and the gun owner has very little protection under the law, as is clearly evident from this article.

I agree Timmy,

The action taken by the New Jersey police department is bizarre and high-handed to say the least. The rough and ready methods adopted in cutting open the vaults and taking away the guns would hardly find a parallel elsewhere.

Regards.

I do not approve of the ways of the NJPD, but airguns have been seized by the police in India miroflex. try and find a parallel to that elsewhere.

An object which is used to intimidate or assault someone is liable to confiscation by the police. Here the man had not brandished or flourished his guns yet his home was entered, his vaults forcibly cut open and their contents taken away.
