US senate rejects Gun Control bill

Post by skeetshot » Thu Apr 18, 2013 11:47 am

I was happy to learn that the controversial back ground check bill that the Obama administration was trying to steam roll on to the American people was rejected in the Senate after the anti gun supporters could not garner enough votes to support their cause.

" Today, the misguided Manchin-Toomey-Schumer proposal failed in the U.S. Senate. This amendment would have criminalized certain private transfers of firearms between honest citizens, requiring lifelong friends, neighbors and some family members to get federal government permission to exercise a fundamental right or face prosecution. As we have noted previously, expanding background checks, at gun shows or elsewhere, will not reduce violent crime or keep our kids safe in their schools. "

We in India who are fighting to re assert what is our Constitutional right for our law abiding citizens to keep firearms are watching with interest how a section of American society has misconstrued the need to reduce firearm related violence by attempting to victimise law abiding gun owners in the US.

Good for the Americans. In India we would be lucky if we are able to get arms and ammo at a reasonable price and of a reasonable quanlity.A reliable revolver/pistol for Rs20-30,000,excluding taxes, would be a start.
