Venezuela bans private gun ownership

Post by CZHarry » Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:25 am

So now it happens in Venezuela, home of communist dictator Hugo Chavez. From what I understand, the guns are "registered" or at least every legal gun owner is known to the government. Makes it easy for them, doesn't it?
All gun owners in England were registered too.

Could it be that Hugo doesn't want the citizens to go against him, like in Syria? Fight for your rights and don't let this happen to you.

Gun registries have been proven absolutely useless as a crime fighting tool. Historically, they seem to exist for one reason only; to be able to impound (at any time they want to) or confiscate the guns of people who are on the list. Do not fall into the trap of believing that they are crime control tools.

Venezuela has brought a new gun law into effect which bans the commercial sale of firearms and ammunition.

Until now, anyone with a gun permit could buy arms from a private company.

Under the new law, only the army, police and certain groups like security companies will be able to buy arms from the state-owned weapons manufacturer and importer.

The ban is the latest attempt by the government to improve security and cut crime ahead of elections in October

Venezuela saw more than 18,000 murders last year and the capital, Caracas, is thought to be one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America.

Venezuela saw more than 18,000 murders last year and the capital, Caracas, is thought to be one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America.
So now only law abiding citizens who have registered their guns will lose them and will be defenseless. Watch for crime to rise as criminals figure out that citizens are defenseless. Chavez will use this increase in crime to crack down more and consolidate his power.

Hugo Chavez has cancer that is said to be in the last stages, and it is doubtful he will live to the October elections.

I suspect there is going to be a power shift most of the populace may not approve of and this is a precaution.

What's new? Communists violating gun right. That' news is old as firearms, I can't find a communist country that encouraged gun ownership in history. Well, Russia might not care if you open carry AK in the streets or maybe they are gun nut to notice the replica quick :D http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2012/0 ... -ak-rifle/
I'd like to point out that raising against the dictator won't help you preserve your gun rights, look at Libya, they are now trying to ban firearms. Also Egypt and Syria and all the countries in Middle East will never be a true democratic country. Just look at them, after the dictator slain, they are still fighting over who will get the presidential house in a country equivalent to a Chicago ghetto.
When I'll get to shoot a gun?
