dear all,
Locktite is the product known to many of us yet it is not always available in all places.Pidilite has a product which is more available known as FEVIFIT 33 Anaerobic adhesive.Cost is Rs 20/- for 5ml pack.Generally available in hardware shops. I have used this product and found effective in withstanding vibration of gun. Need to mention that it works only in absence of oxygen.Various reports suggest that the cure time is varied from 10 minutes to 24 hrs.

Hi Basu,

> Hey, good useful information.
> Will be useful when fitting the adaptor /seal on to the piston in air rifles.
> Also while mounting the base mount for scopes.
> The info that this product 'Fevifit" by Pidilite works in the absence of oxygen is a bit confusing, as there is oxygen present in the air where gunsmiths work!!!
> I remember reading sometime ago that gunsmiths in the US used epoxy cement for these jobs - this probably meant 'araldite', I presume.
> By the way who makes 'Locktite' - is it an imported product?

Anerobic-will work in the absence of oxygen-usually used to describe an organic reaction.
Here , it MAY mean, doesnt need air/oxygen for the reaction ( adhesion)to take place.

Araldite IS a 2 part epoxy, there are many such epoxies available, contain everything from fibreglass to polysteryne to SS, titanium, aluminium...take your pick
Loctite was made/or atleast packed and sold in India.Purple is low strength, red is high strength. Read the info sheet carefully

Hi Eljefe,

I understand that Pidilite has discontinued making of Fevifit 33 , instead they have come up with Fevicol ANR 124/128.
This is a low power thread locker.
Fevicol ANR 243 is mediun power one.
It does the same job like Locktite.
