Hey Guys

Old habits die hard they say

:deadhorse:

Wish you all very well.

I had got rusting on my DBBL - Bharat Small Arms

Gun metal drinks in the edible oils.

I simply used XXXXXXXX Soya bean oil- this is to prevent the promotion of the company - 8)

and the rust has totally disapperead.

I took balls of cotton - which we use to bandage wounds and put the oil in a katori and simply wiped the barrels and took a thin wooden stick rolled a linen cloth on one end dipped them in the oil and cleaned the barrels.

kept the barrles and trigger and poppers heavily oiled for a day.

I used a cloth dipped in the same and wrapped it around the barrels till the stock and then put another dry cloth on to and my gun is

smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth

the barrels open up without a single tick - noise ofcourse and close without as much as a whisper.

The barrels have less of gunpowder residue due to this and whatever residue is there is cleaned more faster as it does not stick to the barrel.

This technique was used way back when guns were widely used and there had been no cleansing method for the guns.

Technique dated 1750 - 1925[size]

Sure, I've done it on my uncle's IOF .315 rifle. The real work is preparing the metal prior to application of the bluing solution.

For more on bluing try the following threads here
