Grumpy,

Have a look at MTC Optics. http://www.mtcoptics.co.uk/

It's owned by a couple of friends of mine from the Airgun BBS.

My next scope will most probably be the MTC Mamba 1.5-6x42 (Illuminated dot + German 4A) for the .30-06

P.S.: If you want to see a better pic of the Mamba, you can see it here...

Thanks folks for all the valuable inputs, really appreciate it.

Mack The Knife - I will take a look at weaver.

I have great respect for Bushnell scopes. We went black bear hunting in september and a friend was carrying a Ruger 30-06 topped with a Bushnell 3200, on the second day (it was a 4 day hunt) of the hunt he slipped when climbing a huge rock & fell banging the scope against some rocks. There was a visible 1 cm long dent in the scope tube about an inch behind the obj lens, the paint was peeled and white metal was visible. We all expected that the scope was a throw away and looked like the hunt was over for my friend. Luckily there was an abandoned gravel pit nearby and we were able to go there and fire a few rounds at 75 yards, we were all expecting the worst but to our surprise the point of impact had not changed and my friend was overjoyed. Bushnell has a winner if all their scopes are as durable. May be scope from other manufacturers are as rugged, don't know?

Also while looking around for a scope for my 375 h&h I came to know about one more difference between the 3200 & the 4200. The bushnell website says that 4200 is recoil tested to 10000 rounds of 375 h&h where as the 3200 is tested for 1000 rounds of 375 h&h. I bought the 4200 for my 375 but the eye relief is a bit short for a hard recoiling gun like 375 h&h.

Herb,

I would consider a Nikon Monarch for the .375 H&H. The eye relief is generous and there isn't much difference in the eye-relief across the zoom range.

Jon's prices on these are considered to be amongst the best. http://theopticzone.com/searchresult.aspx?CategoryID=56

Yes Mack The Knife, the 4 inch eye relief on Monarch will make a lot of difference. May be I will move the 4200 to some other rifle & top the 375 with a Nikon.

I`ve seen some good reviews for the MTC Vipers Mack The Knife but as far as I know the whole range is intended for air rifles/rimfires only........although as some are the same as some of the Deben Hawkes and some are the same as the Konus scopes I don`t know why that should be.
Their SBC ( SCB ? ) reticle is a nightmare.....like a Mildot on speed......or a Mildot designed by Picasso on speed.

Where did you get that bit from?

The blurb says "air-rifles to .50 BMG" and Gary has always been a straight shooter eversince I have known him.
