Hi Sat,

It is a 30mm tube and indeed an excellent scope. Have to agree with you that it is not right for the rimfire. In addidtion to that a 30mm tube does not do much for the asthetics of the slim brno. Planning to put it on my parker hale 30.06 which at present has a one inch scope. Need to change the entire setup. Justice will be done to the monarch when it sits on the 30.06.
Recently got the MTC Viper for my HW 100. Damn good looking scope but too big for my liking. Thinking of getting rid of it and getting a smaller one.

Sanjay,
Getting the wrong mounts was not that bad, especially with the experience I have had in the wonderfull indian arms market. Got ripped off a couple of times which made me wiser and prety much suspicious of evertything. Its okay to make a profit but to cheat and decieve a customer (gunshop dealers) is wrong. Unfortunately our country is full of them.Atleast I can sleep peacefully, never cheated anyone nor will I ever.

In spite of repeated warnings you insist on posting in capitals! Do this again and you will receive a formal warning. The Mods have better things to do than keep tidying up after you. MOD

scope/mounts for brno .22lr

Post by sat » Sat Aug 08, 2009 3:31 pm

The nikon monarch gold 1.5-6 x 42mm is imho perfect for a 30-06 in our conditions, I used a friends Kahles
1.5-6 x 42mm, loved the wide field of view.

For mounting your 30mm nikon monarch on the .30-06 do have a look at Talley QD or Warne QD mounts, http://www.talleymanufacturing.com/. In Talley you have a choice of lever or screw lock.

If you do not need quick detachable mounts, have a look at the one-piece construction of the Talley Lightweight Aluminum Scope Mount. The rigid design has no joint between the scope and the rifle. The Talley Lightweight unitized design eliminates the possibility of an "out of alignment" interface or "loose connection" between the ring and base of traditional two-piece designs.

To answer your question for a rimfire scope..

1. kahles 2-7x36mm rimfire is excellent, after which comes the
2. Leupold VX-II 3-9x33mm EFR Rimfire scope. (EFR stands for "extended focus range.").
3. leupold VX-I 2-7x28mm Rimfire or leupold FX-I 4x28mm Rimfire,

The kahles has vastly superior optics to the leupold. kahles glass is sharper, not popping, but sharper. It is sharp all the way to the edge.

Which scope are you thinking of for your HW100?

Hi Sat,

Have been looking at the Talley and warne mounts. How can I be sure the Talley light weight alluminium mounts would fit my rifle?
The kahles scopes seem to be really good, I was suggested the same by Mack The Knife. Will have to pick one up on my next visit abroad.
As for the HW 100 I was planning to put the nikon prostaff 3-9x40. Infact it is the one I ordered from 20North. It has been a month and a half and still no delivery. They have given the 10th of this month as the due date, have my doubts though.

You will have to email Talley with your rifles model no/specs. They will suggest the model no of the specific light weight alluminium mounts which will fit your rifle. You can also search http://www.midwayusa.com for your mounts.

Nikon prostaff 3-9x40 is not suitable for air rifles as the parallax is set at 100 yards. You could choose from one of the scopes at http://straightshooters.com/navagationp ... ediumscope

Thanks Sat for all the help.
I have contacted Talley ragarding bases and mounts for my parker hale and they replied saying any of their large ring mauser parts will do for my rifle. Saw some on midway.
I have put the mtc viper on the HW100 for the moment. Got it zeroed in three shots and fired some 60 shots with it at 10, 15, 25 and 35 meters. Its a big scope but getting used to it and it does look good on the HW100 (like a super sniper rifle). Lets see how it goes.
