Re: Bursting shells of .32 KF
Available but there is a significant difference in price. .32 ACP or rimmed revolver round by IOF retails at Rs. 60 to 80 apiece wheras an imported round in India would cost anything from Indian Rupees 250 to 400.
Shahid Bhai ,
You need to update your records. In Delhi .32 IOF revolver cartridge sells for just Rs.26.88 & the Imported .32 revolver ammo not more than Rs.200. Some one has given you some wrong piece of information.

This would be of some interest to those who think that a .32S&W Long revolver is a child's toy

Gents,
I need references or pictures of exploded handguns where a cracked shell is the culprit.... and also if anybody has been injured due to this.
Also, any place where it can be proved that a cracked shell is NOT a norm but a severe accident and caused by faulty Quality Control....
The press is eager for this fodder....

Predictably, they'll probably blame it on improper usage by the consumer- and in a nation and media of zero awareness on fire arms... it'll probably be taken as the last word.
Anyway, if it comes to giving the almighty babu and the IOFB a few sweaty, tight ar*e moments I'm all for it. Love to see the charlatans squirm in spite of their pompous counter-claims .
Ok guys lets see some evidence gathering here...

Fine, if other gents agree... and want this incident to die down... so be it...
But tomorrow if it happens again and a poor fellow is not so lucky, then what ?
I have already sent it to the press... but the press guys want to know if this has happened only with me or have there been any more cases... also the general opinion of the knowledgeable gurus... as to the consequences of a case bursting... pics if possible...

I've had a similar experience (burst cases) with my dad's old .30 carbine. The ammo in question was at least 40 years old and the headstamp read - "WCC" (Western Cartridge Co). I'm assuming the vintage as this was procured directly from the army depot at Bharatpur and AFAIK the last time USA sent any military aid to India was in the 1960's. That said this could very well be old WWII ammo...Olly";p="43901 wrote: Fine, if other gents agree... and want this incident to die down... so be it...

Anyhow, I've had several cases burst in the manner pictured on this thread... it's really old ammo so never really paid much attention to the phenomenon. And asides from the cases cracking open there were no ill effects to either the gun or shooter (me). Bloody strange to see this happen with brand new ammo though...
Cheers!

Re: Bursting shells of .32 KF
Are you sure the ammo was new and not glossed ? Rest i agree with sanjay that it can be a dimensional difference in the case and the cart. Have seen 7.62 Nagant carts burst but they were circa 1980. Never had a prob with .22 carts. Planning to get a .455 just to avoid this scenario. Take care !

Where are you going to get ammo for it? There is also the small matter of getting a license from the Indian Govt. for it.Ace_doc wrote:Planning to get a .455 just to avoid this scenario. Take care !

Re: Bursting shells of .32 KF
I have had the bad experience of cracked cases too. This was in 1996, but the fault was very likely mine and the revolver's and not that of the ammunition. The revolver was a Ruby Extra made in Spain .32". It wasnt very reliable in that there were many misfires due to light primer strikes. In those (much stupider) days, on some ones advice I "Brasso"ed all my revolver ammo to make it shiny like in the gun magazines.
I did not realize at that time that the ammonia in Brasso makes the brass brittle. Whether this was the only cause for the craked shell I'll never know. I had a sliver of brass embedded in my left forefinger as a result of holding the revolver with it extended along the trigger guard on the left side. I have no clue how this happened.
As for the revolver I later changed the hammer spring but that did'nt help. I figured out later that it was excessive head space and added "headspace reducing" shims, that didnt help either.
Finally sold the damn thing. This is one of the reasons that purchasing old stock magnum ammo that was probably imported many decades ago is so risky, we dont know for sure if our friendly neighbourhood dealer has "Brasso"ed the ammo.
Regards,
Anand

Are you in the armed forces? If you are, then you need to update your information.NSP is for allotment only. While an officer is in service he/she can keep any calibre handgun.Best would be for you to get a 9mm pistol. However you would have to surrender it when you retire as only those army officers, who have been issued a PB handgun prior to 1984, are eligible to get a license for it.Ace_doc wrote:please correct me if i m wrong but army personnel can keep a NSP weapon without lic till in service. the ammo is ,well another story............
