9mm police is another form of 9mm pistol cartridge, it is also 9x18mm like 9mm mak, a little lesser in dimensions compared to mak.
i dont know more than this.

9mm Police or 9mm Ultra is a 9 X 18mm Ultra 100gr FMJTC .
A now discontinued 9mm Police, was designed as a powerful round suitable for simple blowback pistols. 9x18mm Ultra or 9x18mm Police ammunition is not compatible with the Makarov, although they have the same 9x18mm designation. The 9 mm Makarov round is 9.25 mm as compared with the 9 mm Ultra's 9 mm and the 9mm Police's 9.02mm . Any attempt to fire 9x18mm Mak in the 9mm Police chamber can result in serious damage to the pistol and injury to the shooter! However no details are available about firing a 9mm Police/Ultra through a 9mm Makarov chamber, again unsafe I guess . 9mm Police ammo is not available easily in the USA so I read .

Sitar, as the Doc has shown in the dia, 9mm makarov is different in dimensions from the 9mm 'police' you mention. wrong ammo in a gun can leave you fingerless if you are lucky!
I think you mean the 9mm as used by the Indian police and armed forces? if so, it is 9x19 Parabellum/Luger, a PB cartridge and definitely NOT usable in a 9mm Mak

"Feed" and safely fire are two totally different things. The 9mm Ultra will indeed feed flawlessly in a Mak, and may even fire if it can headspace, or be held by the extractor; and will most likely do so without danger to pistol or shooter, but accuracy would be nonexistent. So, unless it's the only available choice, and you badly need to scare someone right now, don't do it. The Russians always designate their cartridges strictly by bore diameter (as was a long time ago internationally agreed upon), so always add .2 to .3mm to the nominal for bullet diameter. Cheers.
