Nice knives, specially the pesh kabz'. What's the age on the katar?

HI stands for Himalayan imports Vikram. It is an outfit based in Reno that has its own factory in Nepal making the best (arguably) khukris in the world. BGRS is Baby Ganga Ram Special, HI names many of its models after the smith(kami) who makes/designs it.

Wouldn't know the exact age of the katar but it definitely is an oldie. It shows remnants of silver koftgiri on the handle and the forging is wonderful. The pitting gets highlighted in the pics but it is in pretty good condition. The armour piercing tip is amazing, went through an Amby door(guilty) like the proverbial hot knife through butter!

I share the Pesh Kabz with you... which I had posted earlier under 'What am I' thread.... very nice to know about its sibling, sleeping with you !! :D

I do also have 2 Tibetan Thees. Does the handle have wire work on it ? What is the material of the scabbard... I suspect it is some silverish alloy.... We have 3 amongst ourselves...

A great collection... keep it going...

Awesome collection bro, tells us more about the fascination with blades, is it only blades of the subcontinent? or is it knives in general?
Would love to hear more.

Great Kukries Yaj. Just one question. Why are the blades chromed? most of mine have a matt finish. Is it that they are for export that they have the chromed finish? Will post pics of mine to illustrate the point. Lovely knives. Thanks for showing them.

Thanks. They are not chromed mate! I would never buy a chromed knife. The HI blades are polished to a mirror finish.

I left a good few in India when i moved, by no means a collector, these are the blades i use on a regular basis.
From left to right
Kukri
Fillet knife
Muela with Gut hook
Sword Skinner.
Sword utility.
Sword Boning knife.
Stanley Utility.
Leatherman Wave.
Spyderco Endura.
Image
The kukri tackles brush and other odd jobbies around the yard admirably.
The Swords are remarkable in that they are 3 layers sandwiched, beautiful cutting edge.
Spyderco goes everywhere with me.
