Customs and IGST on imported Archery gears and accessories ?

Post by eternalme » Tue Mar 27, 2018 1:18 am

Greetings,

I recently imported archery gears worth 129.8 US$ only , just to taste the process through mail.
The parcel was sent from U.K tracked mail, i was eagerly awaiting it's arrival until i got a call from the post man informing me that i have a parcel for which i need to 4367/- rs.

I did some quick calculations and realized that the amount being asked is almost 50% of the total value + shipping.

On asking delhi central excise snd customs they replied with 42.08% tax on "All other items imported through mail" .

I am wondering since then what would i do had i ordered a 50k bow :-).

Ask me about it. Happened to import a compound bow in 2015 and got charged approx 50% customs. The babus had even seized the bow, getting it released was a painful process.
There are daggers in men's smiles.

I have ordered one "Samick Sage Recurve Bow" from US yesterday, choosen 5 days shipment, not sure what will happen with customs!, i didn't order any arrows with it to avoid unintended attention, if I get it smoothly will order the arrows and accessories, thanks
