Any steel will be available if you are ready to place the minimum order quantity. The moq will vary as per the grade of steel and its availability.
There are quite a few diy project in the forum. Look them up.

I'd suppose the sales offices of SAIL or Tata Steel would be good places to start.....
Cheers!

Is you want to make serious knives. 2 are best available steels in india :1. 5160 leaf-spring steel ; 2. O1-tool steel .

5160 leaf-spring steel widely means "kamani ka patta" you can find it at any scrap merchants or Repair shops...

O1 tool steel is raw steel pieces for making tools. Machinery ,spareparts . It can be scavenged from sawmill cutters circular blades, lawn-mover blades etc...

Depends on what you want to make Snehasis, and depends if you want to forge or do stock removal.

Importing Super Steel blanks is simple. Japanese Paper Blue is also imported by a few people in Mumbai.

In Kolkata I do know that the Nepalese Kami's are always trying to source Spring Steel (5160) of Old Imported Toyota's and Mercedez Benz.

A good option for you is also 52100, which is bearing steel, both steel balls and steel rods are available all over India by SAE. 52100 has more chrome and does not rust easily like 5160.
