Nice one pistolero - the mention of the Urumi - brought back a lot of teenage memories, when I, along with my brothers used to practice with both the single bladed and double bladed weapon when I was in the 8th grade. This was used extensively not only in Kerala but in Tamilnadu as well (it was called a Surul).
I even had the opportunity to try the triple bladed version on a few occasions - very, very scary!
The Surul could potentially remove generous chunks of flesh off, of the inattentive practioner. I am very happy to recall now, how fortunate I am to still have all my body parts intact!

Hi CK Kalyan,
I did not know you had first had experience with the Urumi. The only time I ever got to hold one was when an Kalaripayatu master came down to Mumbai. This was a long long time ago.
Do share some more info about the technique of the Urumi.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
P

Basically the Surul was a part of the Silambu (a 6' long staff) practice. The Surul was used with very similar movements to the one-handed, single stick action including the steps and placement of the feet.
With more practice the student moves on to using a Surul one in each hand, simultaneously. This took a lot of coordination.
Some videos to illustrate:
