Does a rod-less piston is good or bad idea for precihole Air rifles?

Precihole spring rifle's piston doesn't have the rod, which other company rifles usually have them.My thinking is that, the center rod minimize the metal to metal contact with the help of the spring guide.but the rod-less model doesn't have this privilege.Hence it maybe prone to jarring and even more metal-metal contact because of the resistance from the compressed air at the front.Members, please share your concern on this subject.

I do think rodless piston is equally good for air rifle.
In PH the tolerance between ID/ID of Piston/spring/guide is low and perfect.
The advantage with PH piston is that it does not have the slot .
This prevents unnecessary migration of lube towards piston head , which may cause shot to shot inconsistency.
Pratik Mahale has made a few experiments with PH springer to see its performance variation but only factory setting gave best performance.
I was told that if one uses Gsmith 27 spring , that increases the velocity by few yards.
there one needs to knock off OD of spring guide by may be 0.5 mm.
However there is no evidence to back up this claim.

Already they are having a spring guide.Hence installing a piston rod will improve its smoothness further.
