Dear Vidya,
Artemis has a very quick shot cycle.
So even if you lose a few yds in the process of tameing the spring , it really does not matter.
The gun will still be left with solid punch.
Once the spring is tamed , you really discover a whole new gun.

@Basu Sir, how long does it take to tame it. I guess I would have shot around 700 pellets so far....

I guess the spring is somewhat tamed now...because it used to be sharp cracking sound and now it has become little smoother while firing a pellet, or is the smoothness due to bedding of seal and spring? Does it take more time to tame the spring?

It depends......
Take it easy......
The sharp snappy sound is nice to hear but does not contribute in accuracy.
Try to get to the target as close as possible , tighten the side screws to max.
You will surely notice with every passing day, performance is getting better.
All internal parts takes time to get adjusted with each other.
Once these all done , every moment is a nice moment.
Lastly , never fiddle a set springer , it can make your life miserable to get back to earlier setting.
Me and Pratik suffered in that venture.

There are star washers below the screw which prevent carving.
If it is misplaced , get them from market.
