When power and accuracy drops down significantly. When changing a spring it is a good practice to change the piston seal also and if necessary the breach seal.

Thanks for the reply ji.. I purchased a new sdb apache today from a dealer here in Dindigul, tamilnadu. He told that the spring needs to be changed for every 1000 shots. Thatsy I asked..

To my experience , it takes 1000 shots for a new spring to settle.
Then it becomes more springy and starts giving shot to shot consistency.
A good spring lasts quite a few thousand.
The TTI spring in my National25 ,crossed 9000 shot and maintains same power and velocity.
Other TTI spring was so boringly powerful , even after 5000 shots , that I had to remove it.
Apache is 12 fpe AR.The stock spring is capable of delivering that and may reach 13 fpe with lighter pellets, if tuned.
I find no reason to use stiff springs when the gun is not designed to deliver anything in excess of 12 fpe.
One can get 10-12 yds extra by using stiffer spring but surely accuracy will go for a toss.

I had my choice between apache and nx100.. Since I am a newbie I didn't wanted to invest much despite the superiority of nx100. So In order to sell the costlier one he gave me that false claim.
How about the power delivery? ll it be consistent upto 5000 shots or there ll be decrease... And the fps as well??
Is anything beyond 12 fpe illegal in india??

in general retailers hardly know anything about the guns in details.
They are only interested to maximize the profit elements.
I have seen them pushing inferior products in the name of high quality .
So, there comes the utility of forum , where one can get to know various options and act accordingly.
I do not own any Apache , but based on my idea about Kolkata made guns , I can say the spring must last 5000+shots.
A gun becomes only illegal in India , provided the projectile perforates an 1" thick deal wood from a distance of 5 ft.
If I am wrong , I may please be corrected.
I am not too sure whether or not a new law is enacted by parliament as of now.

Hi Raj,
As Basu & GNV mentioned, a good spring should last several 1000 shots. NX is a NP and a nice rifle. SDB is a good choice too. Dealers don't know much as mentioned by seniors. '1000 shot spring needs to be changed" bears testimony to the dealers insite. A sad state.
Ensure you use the right pellets to fully enjoy plinking and do read about safety.

Dear Basu,i have now shot 2000 plus pellets from my SDB Apache. It has become more set now and likes united shot power ranger and Diana flat head pellets. Do i have to do any sort of preventive maintenance ? Do guide me. Thanks Anoop

Dear Anoop ,
The internals of Apache is coated with greasy type moly.
There is no chance that it will dry out so early.
For externals , you may use some good grease for hinge and cocking lever.
I remember , Dr.Sirsat told me not to open a gun unless it has problem with velocity or accuracy.
If one does so , the gun will further take its own time to settle down.
I mop the butt with soft cloth before and after use and also give a thin coat of 40w Mobil after use.
