Dear Anoop,
It is nice to note that your Apache does not have any vibe pre 700 shots ,even though it is fitted with synthetic seal.
I am sure , your AR will further smoothen with passage of time.
No need to tune or make any change.
Simply.....shoot....shoot...and shoot...

anoop wrote:Dear Vsraja and Basu, my Apache is 700 shots old. It makes no extra noise or vibration therefore i am wondering why change the seal. Just a loud thought. Ofcourse Vsraja must be having strong reasons for going in for leather seal . BTW i get little recoil to the extant that even elementary 4-20 scope has so far lasted ( 300 shots). May be we can improve Apache further with leather seal. Do keep us informed. Anoop
As basu said earlier, the leather seal can reduce the swept volume along with some vibration. So we have to reconsider about the idea of replacing the synthetic seal with leather seal.I also found that the noise level and vibration is related to many parts like spring flexibility, breach seal, etc. If the breach seal is not rightly sealing the compression it may be felt by the shooter in different ways of uncomfortness. Also the loose stock screws were also the clue for increased vibration. We have check the tightness of the stock screws atleast every 100shots.I thankyou and Basu sir for a kind sharing of your knowledge and experiences.
With regards,
vsraja

I understand that "Synthetic Seals> offer a more closer & tighter fit and thus reduce vibration & enhance smoothness :D
With a dab of "Moly" its the most accepted type of seal for ARs!

I have heard lot of positive things about SDB.
I am looking to purchase SDB rifle this month end.
Could someone highlight which is the best model, as per some SDB 2000 is a close replica of Diana 35 (similar trigger mechanism)?
Is it a good purchase? (Please share the link if someone has already discussed about this model)

SDB Apache is a 11 ftlbs out of the box AR.
Once tuned ,it reaches 12 ftlbs.
The effective range is 30-35 mtrs.
Since this has good punch , the pellet travels more than low power ARs.
In case you are looking for 50-60 mtrs shooting , PCP is the best.
SDB 2000 is true clone of old Diana 35 , made in Germany, with ball bearing trigger.

That's good. Forget tuning for at least 1000 shots. Enjoy your gun and get used to her. In the meanwhile, there are several threads on tuning in the forum. You could get aquinted with the process.

Kudos for your new purchase..............

Do not go for tuning at all if you do not know that.

How is the feel that you get.....

Dear all, i finished shooting 1000 shots and Apache remains as smooth. If at all it has become slightly more smoother. No extra noise,no extra spring twang and no loosening of nuts and bolts. All in all a very good and accurate air rifle. Friends any special maintenance to be adopted? Please do inform. Thanks Anoop

Dear Anoop,

I am planning to get one when I visit Kolkata next month.

Please tell me with which pellets you are getting the best groups? I am told this gun does not like imported pellets, do you think that as a disadvantage? Did you tune your gun, if so where/by whom? And if possible please do video of accuracy test. Whew, lots of questions I guess! Please bear with me.

Regards,

- Jai

Dear jksunwar, i was out of Allahabad hence the delay in replying. I have shot 1800 pellets and Apache is going strong. I have .22 cal and i find Diana flat head most suitable as i fire at 16 - 17 yards.I had recently got 3 shot grouping smaller than Rs 5 coin at this range with Diana shot flat head.I find lighter pellets than this create more vibrations. United shot pellets are also good. The breach diameter is small therefore imported pellets dont fit in it.Its no disadvantage in any way in my opinion. I have not tuned it as it is working fine. Go ahead with Apache / Sportz and i am sure you will enjoy shooting. Happy shooting. Anoop
