Wanna wear waist holsters point both heads towards cans and scream draw. Pity if someone drops his $500 pistola though ;-). Mine so looks like a target pistol that its no fun, might need to get a Crosman 357/6 for the informal contest.
Do come in dec.

BTW Mack The Knife.... nice guns. Looks and sounds like immense fun. I never really had a good air pistol to plink with...perhaps its now time to get one.
To be honest I have always found plinking by oneself a bit boring but turn it into a comp and the equation changes.

Hope you find yourself a good one.

fps numbers and yet what they can actually do

Post by dev » Thu Nov 29, 2007 11:48 am

I was going thru the yellow forum when I was amazed to see what 427 fps can do at twenty yards in .22 caliber. The pistol in the pic belongs to Todd Cooper and the picture attached is what his HW 45 does to soup cans.

So maybe an air rifle blasting cans to the same shape is actually doing no more than 500 or 550 fps. This is what my QB 78 does at about the same distance but the pellet often goes thru one side of the can and at times both. And I run around clapping both my hands over my head, screaming that I got a magnum air rifle  .

I need to post pics of the penetration of a HW 90 and the QB 78 on a bar of utensil washing soap (naya rin) . On the face of it they seem to be shooting the same velocity, with the Co2 rifle doing it with much less effort. The 90 of course needed the slap and cock with both hands routine (to the tune of Popeye the sailor man). Will do pics soon.
