Hiking in Madrid

Post by willyson » Wed Apr 24, 2024 4:39 pm

I will be in Madrid for a couple of days for some business-related work. I was wondering if I could do two days of hiking during my stay over there. Do you guys know about some places where I can hike?

You could try Sierra de Guadarrama the mountain range just north of Madrid has many trails ranging from easy to more challenging, and also some popular spots are La Pedriza, Peñalara Natural Park and Puerto de Cotos. You can do day hikes or overnight trails here.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely check out La Pedriza and Peñalara Natural Park. The idea of day hikes or possibly an overnight trail is exciting. Do you have any other recommendations?

Monachil - About 2 hours southwest of Madrid, this town makes a good base for accessing trails in the Sierra de Gredos mountain range. Some popular routes are the Puerto de la Isabela and Adela de Gredos trails. Are you going alone? You should try getting a guide if you are new to the place.

I have thoroughly checked all the places you've mentioned. I have contacted a guide from https://gowithguide.com/spain Though I am still not sure, Do you have any suggestions? I need to finalise it asap. My flight is scheduled for the 19th.
