As promised, I am posting few pics taken by me during my visit to Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary last weekend...
Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is a small but quite well maintained and beautiful bird sanctuary located in between Kanpur-Lucknow highway in Uttar Pradesh. I am quite lucky in this regard as it is hardly 42kms from my place. It consists of a lake and the surrounding wetland. The sanctuary provides protection for 250 species of migratory birds and many more indigenous species. The sanctuary also houses a deer park, watchtowers, restaurant and boats.

Bronze Winged Jacana
The bronze-winged jacana belongs to group of waders. They are identifiable by their huge feet and claws which enable them to walk on floating vegetation in the shallow lakes that are their preferred habitat.
Rufous treepie
The rufous treepie is native to the Indian Subcontinent and adjoining parts of Southeast Asia. Quite interestingly it belongs to Corvidae (crow) family. It is commonly seen in open scrub, agricultural areas, forests as well as urban gardens. Like other corvids it is very adaptable, omnivorous and opportunistic in feeding.
Indian Grey Hornbill
The Indian grey hornbill is a common hornbill found on the Indian subcontinent. It is mostly arboreal and is commonly sighted in pairs. It has grey feathers all over the body. The bird can easily be identified by the characteristic horn which is black or dark grey with a casque extending to the point of curvature of the horn.

Amazing pics! Very nicely captured. Do you have one of those huge birding lenses?
Nawabganj reminded me of the school picnics and (a few years later) clandestine beer drinking sessions in the tourist department bar, way back. Unfortunately, we were interested in somewhat different birds in those days! Beautiful place. Good to see it is still maintained.

we where tracking this tiger for nearly an hour and finally saw this beauty.there wasn't enough light it was almost dark.

Had spent many days in bandhipur but was not fortunate enough to spot any tigers. Did get to see a leopard hunt though. It happened so fast and i was so much in awe, i just completely forgot to lift the camera
