IFG moved to new server

IFG has moved once again, this time to an even faster server!

Most users should experience faster page load times and fewer 500 type errors.

Of course, a move always brings with it the possibility of something getting broken along the way.

So, in case any of you notice any such bugs/ errors etc. please do let us know by posting the details on this thread.

Cheers!

If webmaster could take note of the following two problems and inform the web host to correct them -

1. The Firefox browser plugin named Certificate Patrol gives the following error - "(CertPatrol) http://www.indiansforguns.com: Certificate exchanged. Mostly harmless. sni105105.cloudflaressl.com. Apparently issued by: COMODO CA Limited ***Warning: This certificate wasn't due yet. if this site regularly uses more than one certificate, you may wan't to activate "CA only" option in the details." When one goes into the details behind this error, it displays two certificates instead of one.

2. While clicking some links especially when trying to edit and send PM, the website response suddenly switched over from https mode to http mode. It happened only once and unable to recreate this behavior again.

Edit: Now when the link on the top left hand corner of this page that says "Board index" is clicked, the website response switches over from https to http mode. Also after log in, switched from https to http mode. It happened again when this post is submitted again after edit. The problem appears replicable, especially at the time of log in. Looks like the website does not like to stay in https mode.

GBM,

Thanks for pointing out the above points. Since middle of last year we were strictly using HTTPS only, but some changes were necessitated as I didn't renew the certificate this year, choosing in stead to put the money into faster hardware for the site.

(1) Right now we are using the certificate provided by the CDN vendor. Will need to figure out if this message can be/ needs to be looked into further.

(2) Should be rectified now, please do let me know if this crops up again.

Cheers!

Discovered a new problem or rather a security issue. Have some old bookmarks stored in browser of some threads with urls beginning with http. Whenever you use them, the website responds with http, does not prefer to respond with https only. In other words if you begin with http, then entire browser session including the log in, opening of new windows or tabs continues in http only.

Just stumbled upon interesting piece of information. Putting it here for information for everyone who want to get Transport Layer Security certificates for their websites for free. https://letsencrypt.org/ provides free certificates, is a free, automated, and open Certificate Authority. Most browsers support certificates from this Certificate Authority which is cross-signed by IdenTrust.
