 go for shaktiman #4.8 for dealing with a group of intruders or go for a hollow point rifled slug for a single intruder....

The problem is that there are high chances that this Shaktiman 4.8 mm which is close to BBB in English shot size ( about 55-60 to the ounce ) will fire at all. Shaktiman make lousy primers with high rate of misfire. Best is go for an IOF made KF BB.

i m not much experienced about shotguns.i have fired only 70-80 shots.but didnt faced any miss fire with shaktiman xpress..(#4.8)
IOF/KF shells leave alot of residue in the barrel..

Hii,

For home defence a Shotgun ...................while travelling a pistol............and in the woods a high power rifle............again it all depends on your taste........but if you have to choose a single weapon for self defence then a pump action shotgun is a good choice since you have lot of choice in a shotgun ranging from small birdshots to single rifled slugs............even law enforcement agencies all over the world use shotguns.......

Hi,

As far as I know it is to do with hunting. It was a cartridge used widely for hunting diferent game and since hunting is banned then the next logical step was to ban the LG.

By that logic , they govt should ban all birdshots since they can be used for hunting too. LG can be argued as a really good defense shot also.

Our babus need Spok to come over for a lesson in logic. Having said that, yes birdshots can be used for hunting as well but the LG was used on large game and that to on endangerd species such as the black buck.

Banned but people make thier own. Laws and punishment do not change anything in our wonderfull country.

LG is a powerfull shot, with most of the energy being dissipated in the target. The shot also does not fragment but deforms and exits with a very nasty quarter plate size hole in a soft target.

17h,

As per GSR 375(E) and GSR 376(E)(June 21,1980) all multiple projectile ammunition in which any projectile has a dimension of 5mm or more, has been banned.

Then how come 'shaktiman' slugs are still available in the market?

Nishant,

Have you seen a cartridge with more than one slug as in 'multiple projectile'?

Help a un-informed person out.

What is this Shaktiman Cartridge? Who manufactures it, and a phtograph would be much appreciated?
Is it a Brenekke?
