is it necessary to take any State Association membership to take part in Competitions. can't we take Participation directly if having NRAI membership only.

to participate in state competition, you dont need membership, but for Nationals you will your entry to be forwarded to NRAI from any state association, so that might be an issue without membership. You also need to be registered with NRAI and this also requires your form to be attested by state association only. I hope this clarifies
